The agency declined to comment on the timing or reason for the breakup, citing respect for the actors’ privacy.
IU’s agency, EDAM Entertainment, also confirmed the breakup, stating that the singer-actress and Lee Jong Suk have decided to continue supporting each other as colleagues.
A Relationship That Began in Late 2022
The couple publicly confirmed their romance on December 31, 2022, revealing that a longtime friendship had developed into a romantic relationship. Since then, they largely kept their personal lives out of the spotlight while continuing to focus on their respective careers.
Although they rarely spoke publicly about their relationship, they occasionally showed quiet support for one another. Lee Jong Suk attended one of IU’s solo concerts as a member of the audience, while IU famously performed the congratulatory song at the wedding of Lee Jong Suk’s younger sister in October 2022, shortly before their relationship became public.
